Andrew and I spent last week eating our way around Seattle before hopping on the world’s smallest plane for a trip to Orcas Island, a place quickly added to a short list of favorites. We were there mid-week so none of the restaurants were open aside from a shellfish place on a bay — we made a serious dent on the island steamer clam population and I probably should have adjusted my declared weight for the plane ride back to account for the absurd amount of chowder and fish and chips padding my belly.
It was exactly the break we needed. Hiking, sailing, walking, (more) eating, reading, sleeping. Glorious.
Then we spent a final 24 hours in Seattle where we had our best meals of the trip. If Seattle is in your future, I highly recommend Kamonegi for soba noodles and tempura and The Boat (shaped like an actual boat! Delightful.) for the most insane Vietnamese food I’ve ever had. I would share a picture of Andrew mid-bite, absolutely bowled over by the flavors happening in his mouth, but he would kill me.
Wishing you a delicious week! xx
Trench: A bit of a random gift, but I have Mother’s Day on the brain and think this laminated, periwinkle trench would look so great on my mom. And it’s the sort of thing she’d never buy for herself. Great to throw on as she heads out the door.
Read: I brought Memory Piece on vacation with me and was sucked into the story of three friendships at the dawn of the tech revolution — the story then leaps unexpectedly into the future to show where that reliance on technology lands us. From art to social activism to an eery dystopian existence, this was thought-provoking and gritty.
Espadrilles: Unless you wear a size 10, these are hard to find, but they feel like the answer to all of my spring footwear needs. If you follow founder Jessie Randall’s insta account, they look equally great with skirts or a slightly cropped jean. And, I also found these very, very good Mary Jane espadrilles for $100 less over on Tory Burch.
Dinner: I came across this reel for Lidey Heuck’s Roasted Fish with Green Herbs, Lemons and Olives and it is all I want to cook these days. My favorite flavors — lemons! Castelvetrano olives! All of the herbs!
Coat: Exactly the in-between coat I’ve been looking for. Swingy, neutral, hooded, nicely priced, perfect.
Show: Palm Royale is such a delight! Kristen Wiig is funny and charming and a total ditz as she shoehorns her way into the most exclusive club in town. I read that the series starts to lose focus as it unfolds (I’m only two episodes in), but right now I’m all in. The cast is stacked! Laura Dern, Allison Janney, Ricky Martin! Exactly what I need to counter the intensity of Shogun.
Pants: I’m suddenly seeing the Comme Si boxers everywhere, but it’s the pants that have really caught my eye. That breezy stripe! On the waitlist for the pink and red version and now strongly considering this pale green stripe.
Lamp: I am in need of a rechargeable table lamp for a table that’s nowhere near an outlet and this beauty in a gorgeous, shiny burgundy color has my name written all over it.
Dress: I was first introduced to Datura through my incredibly stylish friend Annie who did one of my favorite roundups (I’m still dreaming of a Palorosa bag). I have a wedding in May and would love to wear this citrusy silk dress with a neat little bun, some wild gold earrings and strappy flat sandals.
Thank you for the much-needed vicarious holiday!!! I so NEED those Comme Si boxer pants for around the house. Putting on the list!!
